We’re Getting There

February 3rd, 2009 · 2 Comments · Home

So.  After a quick coat of primer the night before, and some painstaking trimming to make things level, we were ready to install the bathtub walls last night.  I wanted things to go smoothly and quickly, so I prepared while Dan was still at work.

I cut up the cardboard box that the walls came in and used it as a template for cutting the plumbing holes.  I lined up my template with the shower wall and drew the necessary holes on the wall.  Once Dan came home, I very carefully cut the holes we needed.  My measurements were exact.  My holes were perfect.

But.

I drilled the holes into the WRONG panel AND I drilled on the WRONG side of said panel.

(Yes, there are bruises on my forehead this morning from banging my head against the wall.)

Thankfully, despite our careful trimming and leveling the night before, we were still  able to swap panels, trim a little here and there, and make things work.  It looks great (well, as great as prefab tub walls can look) and all we need now is some caulk around the edges.  (Definitely Dan’s job.)  I installed the faucet this evening, so once we can get a little paint on the walls we should be good to go!

I’ll post some pics tomorrow.

This really happens all of the time. The advantage for us is that we do so many houses, that we can use the walls in another house…it does happen.
