Friday morning I sat alone in my kitchen eating my breakfast and listening to the refrigerator hum. I didn’t know it did that.
I called Dan at least four, maybe five times before he made it to St. Louis with ALL FOUR of our children. It was weird being left behind. Quiet. Nice. But very weird. Before Friday, I’d never been in this house alone for more than a couple of hours.
I have to say I got a lot done. I gave away and threw out a TON of stuff in anticipation of our move in a few months. I cleaned the house from Top. To. Bottom. I organized all the closets, the bedrooms and the kitchen. I also manged to demonstrate at two Uppercase Living parties.
My appliances all caught a break. I didn’t cook. I only ran the dishwasher once and did just one load of laundry. Only took three showers. Flushed the toilets a few times… I wonder how much electricity and water we saved over the weekend? Of course I constantly had the television or radio on to keep me company. Otherwise the silence would have been unbearable.
As I said, I got a lot done. And the break from worrying about meals, baths and bedtimes was nice. But, I’m glad it’s over. ‘Cause even if they didn’t miss me, I sure missed them. The house is messier, louder and more chaotic, but it’s also much more entertaining.
So I’ll get back to blogging now. Had you noticed? No children or husband around = no blog material.

The silence is horrible.
When I am our of town on a trip and in a nice hotel, I lie in bed awake because of the lack of excitement. Weird!

What is it like to be home alone? I often wonder…I mean I get a few hours week because of school…but it coming and going. I don’t think that I ahve ever been home alone overnight without the girls. My husband has and I really don’t know what it is like. I would imagine that it would get boring…and i am sure that the silence is deafining (sp)…I am glad that you enjoyed your free time.
What was it like waking up in your own bed on your own…without the 2 footed alarm clocks?

I was out of town last week and, had I had time to blog, I wouldn’t have because I had nothing to blog about.
