Unbelievably, Maria turned 18 8 today! She wanted a flower cake, so that’s what we spent the day working on. It turned out beautifully, and not Angry Birdish* at all (if I do say so myself).
Not only do little girls like flowers, but it turns out that little girl dogs like flowers, too. After putting the final touches on the cake, I set it on the counter and went out onto the deck to give the boys haircuts. I came back in for something and guess what? The dog was skulking away and there were three petals missing from the flower. Fortunately, she had the courtesy to be very neat about it and I was able to salvage the rest of the cake.
After a long day and a longer T-ball game, we all came home, cleaned up and celebrated Maria’s birthday with cake and presents.
