The Good and The Bad

Well, I don’t have to clean my own towels.  And I get to borrow movies for free.  Then there’s… ummmm… well, nothing else I can think of at the moment.  Oh, I know.  I can wash three loads of laundry all at the same time.  For free, too!  That’s pretty exciting.

On the flip side, there’s very little room here.  There are six of us and only two beds and a crib.  There are only four bowls and three chairs, so not everyone can eat a meal at the same time.  There is no where any of us can get away from the others for some chill time.  (Jack, especially, is missing his train time).   The walls here (unfortunately for the other guests) are not soundproof and my children (as many of you know) are not the quiet-type.  There are two phones – both within easy reach of Sam The Button Pushing Man.  Which reminds me – the elevator here has a great little call button on it for emergencies.  When pushed, it dials a dispatch center where an actual human will answer and ask if you’re okay.  It’s kind of like On-Star for elevators.  Guess how I know this.  Go on… guess.  Now guess how many conversations we’ve had with the dispatch center.

So.  While Grandma and Grandpa might regret their hospitality later, I think it will be nice for Jack and Maria to have a week off from hotel living when we drop them in St. Louis on our way to Chicago this weekend.  Yes, just those two are staying.  The Mad Man and The Button Pusher are coming with us.  We might have to slow our pace as a result, but there’s no way we can leave them behind.  They’re practically too much for us to handle, much less anyone else.

Ahhhh.  The nomadic life.  It’s good and bad.
