The Bunkbeds

November 19th, 2008 · 2 Comments · Parenting

As I mentioned in a previous post, my very generous parents and sisters joined forces this year and for Christmas purchased bunkbeds for my little boys (who are getting less little by the minute).  The beds came early, which was perfect timing as Sam has been climbing out of his crib for several weeks now.

We assembled the beds between other projects on Saturday, stole Jack’s mattress and let the boys have at it.  (Don’t worry – Jack shared Maria’s queen for the night.)  Needless to say no one went to sleep very fast.

For hours on Sunday morning those new bunkbeds kept all the kids busy.  I think they only came down for nurishment.  And, it’s been a party ever since.

Bittersweet, the new beds are.  I dismantled Sam’s crib yesterday.  It’s the first time in 6 1/2 years I haven’t had one (or two) cribs in use. *sniff*

Okay.  I’m over it.

My wife left the crib up after our second…I should have figured out that we weren’t done…guys are dumb like that.

Maybe I’ll insist on taking it down this time. We already have a bunk beds waiting the the current occupier of the crib to make a move…

Well, now you’ve gone and done it. Hope you are wishing for a 5th b/c by putting away the crib you have just caused the Lord to laugh at you.
