Temperature

Whoohoo!  It was 5° when we woke up this morning.  Outside.  And inside.

Okay, maybe it wasn’t 5° inside, but it was damn cold.  Guess why.  Come on.  Guess.

You got it.  The furnace isn’t working.  It’s on.  The pilot light is lit.  The furnace itself is hot.  But, it’s not blowing air.

We haven’t even finished buying what we need to put our bathroom back together and now this.

Not to worry, though!  We have a home warranty!  With 24/7 service!  Which does us diddly squat of good.  Since we have a furnace upstairs, our problem does not consitute emergency service.  It doesn’t matter that we’re freezing on the main floor.  And that we spend all our time on this floor or in the basement (which is even colder).  Apparently the warranty company isn’t too concerned with freezing pipes, much less our relative comfort.

But that’s okay. I’m sure we’ll get great service from the warranty company once they send someone out. [Insert dripping sarcasm here.] After all, our furnace is just 30 years old and they prorate the costs involved in repair or replacement.  Ha.  With that being the case, we’ll end up owing them extra money.

So, we have the space heater going.  And the oven on.  And the kids are wearing their long johns.  And are piled underneath 14 blankets when they’re watching TV.  And Dan and I are drinking coffee like it’s beer to stay warm.

Welcome to Chicago, baby!

This sounds like a simple fan issue…the lesser of the expensive things that can go wrong…usually!

“Drinking coffee like it’s beer” that could possibly be my favorite quote from your blog. Ever. But “Daniel by the Manual” ranks pretty high up there.

I also think that you should trademark the name in case you’re ever interested in opening up a coffee shop.
