This morning, I took Crazy I and Crazy II uniform shopping. Thankfully we got there right as the doors were opening and just before the rush. (There was a line out of the store by the time we left.) Jack will wear essentially the same thing he wore last year.
Wait until you see Maria. She is DARLING in her uniform jumper. Really. I can’t wait to post first-day-of-school photos for you. You will just die.
So… backpacks, check. Clothing, check. Supplies, check. Shoes… WTF?!? Where do people buy decent shoes for their kids these days? None of the department stores carry children’s shoes anymore. Except Nordstrom and I really don’t want to spend $51 per pair. But, I also don’t want to buy cheap shoes at Payless or Target, as they are going to wear these shoes EVERY day.
Before realizing the world had changed, I dragged Jack and Maria all over the place this morning looking for school shoes. To no avail.
After a short break, as a last ditch effort, late this afternoon we all loaded up and headed out west to the
outlet mall. (And what an outlet mall! If you come visit, we’ll go there - AWESOME stores!) Stores including a Stride Rite/Keds/Sperry outlet store.
Thank goodness, this store saved me from spontaneously combusting from extreme frustration.
Jack and Maria both got a new pair of school shoes and new athletic shoes - cute ones, too! Sam also hit the jackpot with a cute new pair of Keds. And guess what? None of them cost more than $20 per pair. Whooohoooo! Totally worth the trip!!!
Jack and Maria couldn’t hold back from wearing their new shoes around for the rest of the evening. And, as everyone knows, the new shoes help them run faster.
The kids ate late. We got back “home” late. But, we were successful!
P.S. for those of you feeling sorry for Luke, don’t. He got a VERY cool new hat and he recently got new shoes himself just before we moved.

Thank God for those outlet stores. I told you that they would be a gold mine. That is the reason my boys have so many pairs of shoes. Who can pass up such good deals. So glad you didn’t have to stress!
