…the newest HGTV show:  Dan and Susan’s Bathroom Remodeling Adventure

It’s coming along, although not as quickly as we’d hoped.  But what do you expect when you have to work around four little ones?  We do most of our work in the evenings after the kids are in bed (for obvious reasons). When you factor in clean up time, we really don’t get too much time.

Dan did, however, finish all of the necessary mudding and sanding in the tub alcove.  I would post pictures, but four walls wouldn’t thrill you too much, and I can’t get a detailed enough pic to show Dan’s superior mudding skills. I primed the area and last night we trimmed the wall pieces we’re going to install.  (We had to trim them because you KNOW things in this house aren’t level.)  We’ve got our caulk and Liquid Nails ready to go, so putting up the walls tonight should go smoothly.

I’d like to say our job will be complete in the next day or so, but it won’t be.  We’ll at least be able to shower in there for a while, but in the next few weeks we’re going to rip out the rest of the tile in the bathroom and replace the drywall behind it.  More taping and mudding will ensue and then, finally, I will get to paint!  When we’re finished, the bathroom will still be tiny and open to the hallway (vs. our room), but at least it will be completely FUNCTIONAL and much more attractive than it is now.

Since I rarely have time to see renovation shows, I come here for this stuff!!!!!

Opening walls that haven’t been open for a while usually lead to bad news. When people ask me to take walls out…I let them know right away that bad things get found when that happens.

    Good luck…
