Do you see this ladder?

ladder

This is a 4-in-1 Gorilla Ladder.  Much like the Little Giant, only it doesn’t cost a million bucks.  Anyhow, these ladders are very versitile – they can be made into an extension ladder, a step ladder, used as scaffolding, etc. They’re great and very useful.  But, they’re HEAVY.  The newest ones come with wheels ’cause they’re so heavy.  I could lift it on my own, for a short distance, if I had to.  But, if Dan was around, I’d definitely get him to do it.  And even he can’t just whip it around here and there.

So.  Imagine my surprise when I looked out my window yesterday afternoon and saw this ladder right where you see it in the picture.  I hadn’t put it there, and I was pretty darn sure that Dan hadn’t left it out in the weather like that.  Plus, surely I would have noticed it earlier if it had been there all day.

When the kids came in from playing, I asked them who put the ladder there.  “I did!” said Jack.  “You did?”  I said.  “That ladder weighs a ton,” I told him.

“I used my muscles,” he said proudly.

Holy crap.  He’s Six. Years. Old.  And, it isn’t like he just managed to drag it a couple of feet.  He got it from the very back of the garage, past two vehicles (without damaging them, thank God), onto the driveway, through the gate and over to the play structure.  (Which, by the way, I know has yet to be completed, but it’s -1 degrees here for cripes’ sake.)  Then, he managed to set the thing up.  By himself.
