Well, I made the appointment today for the “big” ultrasound.

Ultrasounds are always exciting, I think.  I mean, you get to see your baby moving around in there and all his or her parts. As amazing as it is to feel a baby growing inside you, it’s really amazing to see that baby in there.  This time, though, there’s even more excitement in the air.  For the first time, we’re going to find out the sex during the ultrasound.  The first four babies were complete surprises in the delivery room.  And, it was fun!  This time, though, with those four kids being a little older and understanding things a little more, the anticipation is building up and we HAVE to find out.

Let’s hope the baby is cooperative.  I can just picture my kids popping like balloons in the ultrasound room at the thought of being forced to endure ONE MORE SECOND of not knowing.

All four of them believe this baby is a girl.  And they’re all happy with that – especially Maria.  I hope the baby doesn’t disappoint them, but even if it’s a boy, I know the kids will welcome this new baby with wide open arms.  Even Maria.  Especially Maria.  I think she’s looking forward to having someone to nurture and cuddle (and later boss).  Her current siblings aren’t exactly cooperative in that department (for the most part).  What will a defenseless baby be able to do, though, but endure it?

I asked Maria yesterday if she thought she’d cry if it turns out the baby is another boy.  “No,” she told me.  “I won’t cry.”

“Anyway,” I said, “if it is a girl, that means you won’t get to be the only girl in the family anymore.”

“I don’t care,” she told me.  “It would be more fun to have a sister.”

I can’t argue with that.  Mine rock.

Oh, yeah.  I almost forgot.  The date.  The ultrasound is scheduled for December 1, late in the afternoon.  I know.  It seems like FOREVER away.

We can’t wait to find out what the sex of Baby H is either. Lucie is hoping for a girl, too, but it doesn’t matter….a healthy one is the best! Yea! for babies :-)

Even if Maria cries, it’s okay. I cried when we found out we were having a boy again. Now I can’t imagine it any other way and love my little sweet Tater! So happy for you!
