On Saturday morning, we all went out in the snow and cold to the Marmion Abbey to cut down our own Christmas tree. Despite the bitter cold and wind, we had a blast! Thanks, Grandma, for letting the kids open their Christmas gifts early. Those new snow boots made all the difference!
Yesterday morning I put the lights on the tree and then while dinner was cooking we all decorated the tree together. This year was the most enjoyable year we’ve had yet. All of the kids were excited, and Maria, Jack and Luke remembered their favorite ornaments from last year. Sam was thrilled just to be helping and enjoyed all the excitement.
I’m disappointed as can be that we don’t have a fireplace and mantle in this house – mostly because it put me in a quandry about where to hang the stockings. I can’t remember ever living in a house without a mantle. We solved the problem by letting Maria choose the location and using some command hooks. I’m pretty happy with the way it all turned out, although I still don’t have a place for my nativity set. Any ideas?

I think the room looks great and the stockings on the wall…that works just fine. The room color looks awesome. What a lovely, Christmassy room!
