Sam is really doing very well at using the potty. He splits his poops between the potty and a diaper. And, he regularly pees standing up at the big potty just like Dad.
Most of the time.
Today after his nap, I suggested to Sam that he go pee.
He went into the bathroom and a minute or so later, I followed to check on him. He was standing on his stool at the big potty. Lid lifted. With pee dripping down all over his shorts, legs, socks and shoes. I walked up to him and asked him what was going, while looking more closely at the situation.
His pants and pullup were still up and just the very tip of his “pete” was peeking out above his shorts while he was peeing.
Obviously, his method wasn’t working. Instead of hitting the potty, the pee was just bubbling up and spilling over and getting all over everything. Kind of like a burbling fountain.
Before tossing him into the shower, I explained to a distressed Sam that he needs to pull his shorts down all the way before using the potty.
“Ohhhhhhh!” he said.

Didn’t Jack have the opposite problem at Kindergarten, mooning the whole world? (And aren’t your kids lucky to have a mom who blogs about, and a cousin who remembers this stuff?)
