It isn’t often that I give recommendations. But, sometimes I can’t help myself. Like now.
I went to the store the other day to pick up a few things for dinner. We didn’t exactly plan too well before the in-laws arrived. I mean, we knew we were going to grill flank steaks, but we didn’t have anything to go with those flank steaks. I also need to pick up some more beer because a) the in-laws like to have happy hour; and b) Dan was running VERY late and wouldn’t be home to help with dinner or the kids (which, of course, equals stress for me and beer = less stress for me).
As the in-laws were at home with the kids, I was able to cruise through the store with very little distraction. I took some extra time and wandered down the Organic Foods aisle, as Jillian Michaels is pushing me to eat (and live) clean. Organic all the way, Baby.
There were all sorts of things in the Organic Food aisle, but what caught my eye were the corn chips. Mexican style. Hmmmmmmm. If they’re organic, they couldn’t be all bad, right? Maybe they were even good for me! (Okay, okay. I know that’s pushing it.)
Anyhow, I grabbed a bag of Xochitl Totopos de Maiz Corn Chips and tossed them into my cart. All natural, no preservatives, no cholesterol, no trans fats, no gluten, no GMO (whatever that is). There were some calories in there, but whatever.
Upon arriving home, I opened them up (along with a Blue Moon) and dipped one into some yummy salsa (also found in the Organic Food aisle, I might add). They were OUTSTANDING! Soooooo good! Light and crispy with a good corn flavor. Better than most Mexican restaurants serve.
The chips didn’t last past that evening, so a few days later I went back for more. (Gimme a break… it was Memorial Day weekend). They were out of the same ones I had bought before, but had the Blue Corn Chip variety. Just as good!
Currently there is 1/3 of a bag of these chips staring me in the face everytime I open my pantry. I can’t have that.
Guess I’ll have to go eat them.

I think that Xochitl was what Katey was going to name her next girl!

Xochie… that’s right! (Or however it’s spelled). So tell me Susan, where did you find the organic Blue Moon?
