I’m famous! Famously frumpy, anyway.
With the school’s Dinner Dance & Auction looming and no Katey or sisters in town to help me shop, I turned to Susan Wagner. From reading her blogs, I know that she’s a mom, she’s my age and she’s a fashionista – something I’ll never be!
Here’s the advice she gave me. Tell me what you think!
Although I didn’t end up with one of these dresses, I almost did. I came very close to purchasing a version of #9. I found it in navy, but it had two straps. I also tried on the one in the picture, but found it only in gold, which isn’t me. The funny thing is, I found the dress before getting Susan’s advice! So, maybe I’m not such an incompetent after all. Or, maybe I was just lucky.
Speaking of the Dinner Dance, it’s the reason I haven’t posted recently. I volunteered to help put this year’s auction book together. For the last few weeks, I’ve been writing and designing ads for the book in my spare time, which has left me with little time for other things. Can I just say that it’s been wonderful? Of course, it has a lot to do with getting what I thought was the prime position – the ad requests were funneled to me, I designed them, had them proofed, made corrections and was finished. No dealing with picky people. No pushing people to purchase ads. No meetings.
And, I discovered – gloriously – that even after all this time, I’m still capable of doing something other than herding children!
The auction book has now been put to rest. I have a dress (after trying on EIGHTEEN) for the upcoming evening. MIL is coming to watch the children.
And now I feel… lost.
Dan better watch out – I may start tearing walls down again.

I liked number 3, the green dress. Hope that doesn’t mean it looks totally grandmotherly.
When is dinner dance and what does your dress look like?

I like the Maggie London best–it’s simple, but not plain.
And as for the models (hey, I’m a single guy), my favorite is the one wearing the Adrianna Papell!
