Dinner, if you can call it that

March 16th, 2008 · 3 Comments · Parenting

Last night at the dinner table:

Jack sat with his class of milk pressed against his forehead, trying to look through it.

Sam, our little artist, finger painted with his ranch dressing.

Maria whipped her head back and forth repeatedly, hair flying, giggling all the while.

Luke, apparently not hungry (for the first time in his life), fed the dog his dinner from the table, one bite at a time.

I stared at Dan, who all the while calmly ate his dinner in apparent oblivion to the chaos surrounding him.  I was reminded of Stephanie Plum’s dad.  (If you haven’t read Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum books run out and buy them – all of them!  You’re missing out on a LOT of entertainment.  Not as much as if you lived with us, perhaps, but darn close.)

Sunday dinners always work out this way for us. We generally eat a late lunch after church and dinner is always a battle.

It may just be the choas from dad being home for two straight days. We try to do a light dinner on Sunday to foil their plans to fill the last evening before the hectic week with choas.

Just wait until Maria brings home a Ranger-like boyfriend and see what Dan does then :-)

    Sounds like a fun meal.
