Food

I have the highchair. (Bought today.)

I have the bowls. (Bought today.)
I have the spoons.  (Bought today.)
I have the rice cereal.  (Bought today.)
I have a baby that is clearly ready for food.  (As demonstrated last night during dinner.)

What I don’t have is the desire.  He might be ready, but I’m not.  It makes me so sad [...]

Turning 40 is a Trip

August 17th, 2010 · No Comments · Adventures, Family, Friends, Milestones, Parenting

Well, in case you didn’t know it, we just returned from a trip to Salt Lake City.  Yes, we took the WHOLE family.  Yes, we DROVE.
10 Days.  3,703 miles.

We survived.  ALL of us.  And, we had fun!!!  Seriously.  I only considered homicide once.  In the hotel in North Platte, NE.  It was our first night [...]

Blessed

July 19th, 2010 · 5 Comments · Baby, Church, Family, Friends, Milestones

Our baby has been baptized!

At first, I was disappointed that none of our family members could make it here for the baptism of our fifth child.
Then, I realized, our family did make it!

The Remicks were able to come a few days early, so we managed to spend some quality time together.
(More pictures can be seen [...]

April 20th, 2010 · 3 Comments · Celebrations, Milestones, Parenting

At 5:55 a.m. 8 years ago today, this little guy was born, changing our lives completely and forever.
Who would have thought that we’d love him so much that we’d end up with FOUR MORE?!?
I can’t believe 8 years have gone by… it just doesn’t seem possible.  I hope time will slow down a bit, as [...]

Confessions of a Lumberjack

November 25th, 2009 · No Comments · Church, Family, Milestones

Haha.  Not really.  But I thought it was a good title!
Seriously, though, last weekend, Jack celebrated his First Reconciliation, or First Confession.  We were very proud of him, as it’s pretty nerve-wracking to pour all of your 7-year-old sins out to a priest.  We were not so proud of our other three, who had ants [...]

The Latest

September 3rd, 2009 · 3 Comments · Celebrations, Family, Milestones, Parenting, School

It’s been a busy couple of weeks.  What, with a new niece being born, a new Godbaby being born, Jack and Maria starting a new school, Luke starting a new school and Sam starting school for the first time ever… oh, and Dan’s birthday.  What else?  Well, there was the neighbor’s complaint about the dog [...]

She’s a First Grader

May 28th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Dads, Family, Food, Milestones, Parenting, Performances, School

Maria graduated from kindergarten today.
In the fall, during the first open house/teacher conference, Maria’s teacher told me, “I’d take a hundred Maria’s.”
Within a few weeks of that, Maria had been “red-carded” several times and started a behavior chart to help keep her in line.  Thankfully, it worked and she pretty much sailed through the rest [...]

Graduating

May 20th, 2009 · 1 Comment · Boy Scouts, Celebrations, Milestones, Parenting, School

We have a lot going on as the school year winds down.
Jack has graduated in Boy Scouts from being a Bobcat to being a Tiger Cub. We missed the ceremony due to a conflict, but he has received all his official pins and badges. (Meaning more sewing for me… unless Katey wants [...]

A Diaper Raise

May 17th, 2009 · 3 Comments · Celebrations, Family, Milestones

I think I’ve told anyone that will listen that when it comes to potty training, I’m a complete failure. My control-freak nature and complete lack of patience may have played a part in it. Or maybe I read all the wrong books. Or failed to follow their advice. Whatever. It [...]

It’s Outta There (Take 2)

January 5th, 2009 · 2 Comments · Family, Milestones, Parenting

I’ve been trying to get Jack to let me at his loose tooth for the last couple of days.  I’m not sure why I’ve felt the need to “help things along,” but I have.  I haven’t been too agressive, but it has been a constant topic for discussion around here.
This evening I had a brilliant [...]
