August 17th, 2010 · No Comments · Adventures, Family, Friends, Milestones, Parenting

Well, in case you didn’t know it, we just returned from a trip to Salt Lake City.  Yes, we took the WHOLE family.  Yes, we DROVE.
10 Days.  3,703 miles.

We survived.  ALL of us.  And, we had fun!!!  Seriously.  I only considered homicide once.  In the hotel in North Platte, NE.  It was our first night [...]

Our baby has been baptized!

At first, I was disappointed that none of our family members could make it here for the baptism of our fifth child.
Then, I realized, our family did make it!

The Remicks were able to come a few days early, so we managed to spend some quality time together.
(More pictures can be seen [...]

First, some new shots of the baby:
Secondly, my poor baby had to get THREE shots today.  He was M-A-D, but his brother Luke was there to soothe him.  Oh, and for those keeping track, we’re up to 12 pounds, 11 ounces and 23 inches long.  Also, his head circumference is only in the 30th percentile [...]

Tampa

January 19th, 2010 · 3 Comments · Adventures, Family, Friends, Girl Time

Maria and I just got home from spending the weekend in Tampa, FL.  Neither of us had ever been, so we were thrilled to be “obligated” to go for our newest Goddaughter’s baptism.
It was odd, going from winter to summer in just a few hours.  The climate was wonderful – warm and balmy and breezy.  [...]

I have spent the last few days folding paper airplanes for Luke (Santa brought him this) and building a snow mobile with Jack’s new Erector set.  And here I thought that Christmas break would seem long!  I’m actually dreading the return of The Routine.  We all slept in this morning and when I finally woke [...]

For more than a month now our kids have been talking about the upcoming annual “S” Family Pig Roast.  Ever since the date was set for this year’s roast, the kids have been counting down the days, reminiscing about last year and discussing who would be eating which part of the pig.  Maria wanted the [...]

So much going on this week – especially today!
Earlier in the week, The Best Babysitter in Tennessee (previously The World, but I can’t do that to Brooke), gave birth to her second little boy, Benjamin.  Congrats to the Traylors!!!

…with a new Goddaughter!
Isn’t she beautiful?  And doesn’t Kristina look awesome?  How come I never looked that good before, during or after labor?!?
Maria’s eyes light up this evening when I told her Savannah was born.  “Now Kristina finally has another girl in her family!” she proclaimed.

Aloha

August 11th, 2009 · 4 Comments · Adventures, Friends

So… while my kick-ass husband took care of ALL FOUR of our sweet lil’uns this weekend, I flew East.
While visiting here a few months ago, Katey and I had conspired to have a baby shower for our dear friend Kristina and surprise her with a visit from me.  Katey went home to work on shower [...]

Friends

It’s pretty quiet here.  The three older kids are watching the latest movie from the library and Sam is eating and playing at the table.
Usually, this would be cause for a celebration – peaceful time for Mom.  But today I sit… depressed.
Our wonderful, wonderful friends just left for their long trek back to Kansas.  Of [...]
