Well, we finally decided that Lukie needed a Big Boy Bed. I guess I decided (and Dan agreed). For some reason it’s been eating at me the last week or so. Ever since he’s been completely potty trained (thank God), Luke’s been talking about what a Big Boy he is. He can now reach the railing for the stairs… he can now join the big kids at the YMCA… he doesn’t need help with this or that… With every Big Boy comment I’ve thought to myself, “and yet you’re still in a crib.”
Most of you are probably thinking, “My God! He’s still in a crib?!? He’s THREE for Pete’s sake! I moved my child when he/she was only [insert ridiculously young age here].”
My response to that is, “Why in the hell would I want to rock the boat?” He sleeps great. He has never complained. Never attempted to climb out. With my other kids, I never put anyone in a big bed until I needed the crib they were sleeping in.
However, with no new babies on the horizon this time, I figured we’ll just have to take the plunge. I mean, he can’t show up in a college dorm room with a crib, right?
So, for the next few nights, Lukie will sleep happily and peacefully in his new Big Boy Bed. Then, he’ll discover he can GET OUT ALL BY HIMSELF. We’ll have some late nights then, I’m sure.
One more down, one to go. Maybe. Sam may actually have to take his crib to college. I can’t possibly let him grow up, too.

Hope the bed transition goes well! I know what you mean about not moving them into a big bed until you needed the crib again! LOL! My 2 1/2 year old ended up needing a toddler bed though, as he jumped in the crib so much he BROKE IT. But, it made it through 3 boys, so I guess we did pretty well.

You may find that the night wandering doesn’t happen…I only had problems with my oldest…second and third boy didn’t even try to get up even when they knew they could!

Good luck with that! I would have kept my boys in cribs until they were in Kindergarten if they would have stayed in them.
