It’s been a crazy week with the kids back in school after a looooonnnnggggg Spring Break. So, it’s taken me a few days to get to posting about Jack’s actual birthday…
I was up at the crack of dawn, anticipating Jack’s birthday too giddy to sleep because the kids were going back to school.
I woke Jack by singing a terrible rendition of “Happy Birthday.” (I know, I’m a horrible mom.) The morning was the normal chaotic before-school crunch, but we made it out the door without forgetting the 10,000 cupcakes for Jack’s classmates. We got them to the classroom, too, in relatively good shape.
After Dan got home from work, we had a meal of Jack’s choosing – bratwurst – and then ate cake. In case you’ve never been to Chicago, the cake is an exact duplicate of the Sears Tower. Jack insisted on decorating it (with help from Maria). No skin off my back, especially considering my luck with cakes.
Jack was thrilled with all the money train money he received, as well as the Illinios Central tank car for his new Lionel collection. Too bad it was raining – he was unable to ride the new bike Dan and I bought him for his birthday. (Pictures of that to come later).
Tuesday was the first day Jack wore a uniform to karate class. It has nothing to do with his birthday, but I had to add this picture. Isn’t he cool?
