I know you all miss me terribly, but I’ve been busy painting my ass off. Unfortunately, it still looks the same. My ass, that is. The house, however, looks great. That’s because I copied my sister’s exquisite taste and used the same colors she did. So far, anyway.
You’ve seen the kitchen and I’ll post pictures of the living room/hallway/stair walls once I get the trim finished. It might be a week or so. I used DeVine paint’s “Filbert” for the wall color and the trim will be white once I’m through with it. Thank goodness, ’cause the sh*t brown trim we have now leaves a lot to be desired.
Anyhow, lots of thanks goes out to my Oregon sister for persuading my hubby to go along and get along on the color. He was afraid it would be too dark, but sis convinced him otherwise. He was still a little doubtful, but after the first coat he was hooked.
Also this weekend, Dan got more done on the playset in the backyard. A few more steps and it’ll be finished. It snowed yesterday, so I cut him some slack. Plus, he did a fantastic job taking on the kids this weekend so I could get the painting done.
We also assembled the fantastic bunk beds my family sent Luke and Sam for Christmas. I know, it’s a little early, but who cares? The boys are thrilled and they know it’s an early Christmas present. Sam has been climbing out of his crib for several weeks now, so it was time for a big boy bed. And, Luke is on top of the world sleeping in the clouds. I’m thrilled ’cause all four kids love them so much that for more than two hours on Sunday morning they spent playing in them. And a couple of hours in the afternoon. And for a while before bedtime… Please, don’t feel the need to lecture me on bunk beds for little kids. I know the “recommended” age is 6 and Lukie is only almost 4. But, these beds are not your momma’s bunkbeds. They’re solid as a rock, there is railing – high railing- all the way around the top bunk, and we had ascending and descending drills before letting Luke sleep up there. I feel pretty comfortable with it all.
I’ll post pictures soon of the bunk beds and the room. Although, Maria has me doubting my painting abilities lately. In accordance with Sunday’s gospel reading, the kids at school have been discussing talents. Maria told me one of my talents was taking care of her and her brothers while Dad goes to work. “What about painting?” I asked her. “Painting?” she questioned. “Yeah, you know, painting the kitchen and the living room and halls and stuff,” I explained. “Isn’t that one of my talents?”
“Ummm,” she said. “Not so much.”

Good job on the painting, but playground assembly outside in the cold is always tough. The materials are NEVER forgiving.
