…a post where I’m not bitching about something. Not that I couldn’t, but I think it’s time for a change of pace.
The plumber came today and all will be fixed. We have a home warranty, so we don’t have to worry about the cost. Whoohoooo!
My dear friend Troy’s comment on my last [...]

My kind of luck
August 28th, 2008 · 5 Comments · Rougher days
I finally got to the point where there was enough floor showing to vacuum. What happens? The cord, which is plugged into the kitchen counter outlet, knocks over my ever-present Diet Dr. Pepper, dumping an almost full soda all over the counter top, cabinets and floor.
I think I’m going to go cry in my bed [...]

To Laugh or to cry…

…That is the question.
There’s a fairly new show on HGTV where people who are thinking about buying a house spend the night in it first to try it out. Right. Like anyone is going to let you do that. Plus - what a hassle, right? Well, I’m starting to see the brilliance [...]

Here it is

Okay. So, here it is. Our big yellow house. It definitely needs some work, but it’s not a fixer-upper, either. Lots of room for the kids.
Our first order of business is a new kitchen and we’ll hopefully get started on that in the next couple of months. After that, it’ll be [...]

Fitting In

Well, we own it. Finally. It’s not perfect, but we’ll make it perfect for us.
We all went to the house this morning to look it over before the closing at 11. Since there is NO WAY we’d be dumb enough to take the kids to closing, I signed over power of attorney to Dan so [...]

Open Letter

This is an open letter to the b*tch who currently owns the house we are trying to buy.
You set the price on the house. Not us. We negotiated a bit and you agreed to the final amount. If you’re suddenly unhappy, it’s not our fault. We know the house has been [...]

So. I need a distraction from the house thing, which happens not to be going well at the moment.
After reading this blog (I know, he’s sexist* and very political) I thought I’d try the 7 things thing. So here goes.
7 Things I Want to Do Before I Die:
Live in out in the country [...]

So Big

Maybe it’s just time. Or, maybe it’s just that we’re all in such close quarters.
Sam thinks he’s a big boy now. He will not be left behind. He will not be left out. He can do what everyone else can do. He’s just as brave, just as fast, just as [...]

Check ups

Poor Dr. P. I’m sure he’s wondering what in the hell descended upon his practice.
Jack, Maria and Luke all had to have physicals in order to start school. I took care of Sam right before we left Tennessee, but he came along for the fun anyway.
Silliness reigned. If Dr. P asked a question, the poor [...]

Ripening

I don’t know if she gets it from her dad, her gran or her great-grandmother. She certainly doesn’t get it from me.
It’s the art of “ripening.” Maria, who is the least shy little girl you’ll ever meet, brings out what shyness she has when putting on a new outfit. She wants to [...]
